Some Otago homeowners may be eligible for 70-100% OFF home insulation or heat pumps, as part of EECA's Warmer Kiwi Homes, the Otago Community Trust, or Central Lakes Trust's insulation programmes. Eligibility is as follows:

For 100% OFF Insulation* you will need to:

be living in a home (built pre-2008) in an area identified as low income (NZDI 8-10), or
have a Community Services Card (CSC) or SuperGold combo card, and
live in the Dunedin City, Waitaki, Balclutha, Clutha, Owaka, Queenstown-Lakes and Central Otago regions.

For 80% OFF Heat Pumps (capped at $3,000 inc GST)* you will need to:

be living in a home (built pre-2008) in an area identified as mid-income (NZDI 5-7), OR
have a Community Services Card (CSC) or SuperGold combo card, and
live in the Queenstown-Lakes and Central Otago districts and not be eligible for other subsidies.

Not eligible for any funding?

Clutha District Council's Warm Homes which lets you put the costs of insulation and/or a heat pump (as long as insulation is done first) on your rates and pay it back over up to 5-10 years;
