  • Why am I seeing a Spinning circle?

If you are getting a general spinning indicator or similar (depending on your phone or device it could be a star pattern, a clock or something indicating 'activity') this typically means the app is taking time to get more information. It could indicate that there is something wrong with your internet connection (either your speeds are too slow, you’ve run out of mobile data or you are in a low coverage area).

If your internet connection is running well but the mobile app is not, please contact feedback@supergold.govt.nz and let us know.

  • Why am I getting a bouncing Gold coin on screen?

If you see a bouncing Gold coin, it means that the app is trying to get more information. The issue could be that your internet connection is preventing the app from working, or the SuperGold service is unavailable.

If your internet connection is running well but the mobile app is not, please contact feedback@supergold.govt.nz and let us know.

  • How much data does the mobile app use?

When you use the app, the amount of data needed will vary depending on your usage.

  • Why do some offers not appear on the map?

Some of the SuperGold businesses we work with do not have physical premises, so at this stage we can’t display them on the map. Also, in some cases offers and discounts may have been restricted where their services are available. Eg Online-only orders, or tradespeople like electricians and plumbers who come to you

  • Does your app support larger screen text?

The SuperGold mobile app will adapt to the screen size settings for your device. You can use device and brand specific features to assist with viewing (eg 3-finger tap for Apple screen Zoom)

Q&A - Apple

Q&A - Android

  • What versions of Android OS do you suggest?

The SuperGold mobile app works well with Android 7, 8 and 9. The app will not work as well with devices using Android 5 or 6. The app will not work on devices with Android 4.4 or less.

  • How do I check what version of Android I have?

You can check your version of Android with most devices by looking for the Settings app (it will typically look like an icon of a Gear, a toolbox or similar) and tapping it, then looking for the option to view 'About this device' or similar.

You should not upgrade your phone software without backing up your critical data – read more at this link.

  • How do I make sure my SuperGold app is current?

We recommend you keep your device applications updated, by using Google Play Store. We are not responsible for application changes that occur as part of this process, except for updates to the SuperGold mobile app. You can find more information at this link.

  • Why is the app slow on my device?

Every smartphone has a different range of technologies built into it, that determine its cost and performance. Generally, a device that is pricier should perform better than its cheaper alternatives. We cannot make the app run faster or slower, but we do design with mid-range devices in mine, not the latest or most expensive.

  • My SuperGold app is too slow, how can I make it faster?

If the app just isn’t running quickly enough on your device, you can always use the website at https://www.supergold.govt.nz.

  • Why does Google Play say this app is not available in my location?

The SuperGold app is only available in New Zealand and Australia.

You can also find more information about setting your country here.

  • Do you support Android tablets?

Generally, the mobile app will work on an android tablet if it has a recent Android OS, but the experience does vary greatly.
